This book has everything there is to know about queer theory. Introducing a multitude of queer concepts from \u201cgender identity\u201d to cis, with mantras like \u201cbe yourself as you are\u201d and \u201conly you know what gender you are\u201d.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Here we introduce some of the country&#039;s most well-known activists around trans issues and gender, Luca Dalen Espseth, who has worked in both the Fri and PKI associations lobbying for gender diversity and gender identity in legislation and school textbooks. In the digital teaching materials, the \u201ctrans person\u201d Luca is referred to as an \u201cexpert on gender\u201d. Luka has been an advisor for gender diversity at Fri and says that it \u201cfeels good to be injected with testosterone\u201d to make the body look like a man.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>August gets two pages to talk about being \u201cnon-binary\u201d and how important it is that people use the correct pronouns for each other. This is identity politics of an intense and uncritical nature. In<br>Instead of starting from the premise that gender is biological and genetically determined, identity is the focus (p.<br>213) and this is used as a framework for explaining gender. This is also evident in<br>the teacher&#039;s guide:<br>\u00ab&quot;It is important that students understand that gender in social studies is not the same as gender in<br>science. In social studies it is less important what kind of genitals and chromosomes one has,<br>than how one encounters the world and is encountered by it. (p. 234)<br>The students are introduced to legal gender. The textbook tells us that this is the gender<br>the authorities have registered that you have and that this is something everyone can change, and that in other<br>countries have more choices than one of two. What gender you are is thus presented as<br>something detached from biology.<br>Furthermore, there is a focus on identity and gender roles (p. 218), and how to have different<br>expectations for girls and boys.<br>.<br>The textbook gives the impression that it is easy to see the difference between a boy&#039;s brain and a girl&#039;s brain as you get older. But first, if we ignore the size of the brain, you cannot easily see the difference between the brains of men and women. Second, the brain changes physically throughout life, and most of all during puberty.<br><br>It should also have been pointed out here that differences are about how the brain is used. For physiologically there is no difference. It also appears speculative that the book attempts to categorize gender based on how the brain is used, and as something that then stands in opposition to biological sex.<br><br>A similar exercise could be to talk about &quot;boys&#039; heights&quot; and &quot;girls&#039; heights&quot;. Boys use their brains to a greater extent in one way, while girls use them in another. Boys are usually taller than girls, and one could then talk about boys&#039; heights and girls&#039; heights. For example, everyone who is 1.74 and taller has boys&#039; height, while those who are shorter have girls&#039; height. This would in all likelihood not be a sensible way to classify gender. Because gender is about reproduction, not about brains or height.<br><br>The textbook stretches expectations of gender to the extreme (p. 225). It is suggested that<br>expectations of gender roles mean that we treat gender so differently that a girl will not get<br>be on the relay team (running), or that a boy should not be allowed to (formerly LLH)<br><br>Through these three stories, a new way of understanding gender is given: Gender is the feeling inside you.<br>Gender identity, your experience of who you are, is the determining factor, and it is presented as a<br>a definitive answer to what gender is. There is no mention of<br>the risks surrounding such invasive and irreversible treatment, neither in the textbook nor<br>the teacher&#039;s guide. <strong><em>We also don&#039;t find any personal stories of those who have<br>underwent this type of treatment, and later regretted it.<\/em><\/strong> This way it is not mirrored<br>reality for the students. That such type of treatment is even mentioned in a textbook for<br>The toddler stage is disturbing.<br><br>Pronoun use also has a major focus in the personal stories. Using preferred<br>pronouns are emphasized. Pronouns refer to gender, not gender identity. Demanding that others<br>Changing languages to suit individual preferences cannot be taken for granted.<br><br>Throughout the entire chapter, it is exclusively secondary gender characteristics or roles that<br>discussed, without making it clear what gender is. Against this background, the impression is given that<br>gender is synonymous with gender identity, and that gender is therefore something you can choose, or that<br>is something that exists inside you \u2013 as if it were detached biology and defined by something<br>other than that.<br><br>This is turning the narrative about gender on its head.
